There are a range of community recycling and disposal stations available locally for items that cannot be collected through your kerbside waste and recycling service.
Electrical waste
Ink cartridges (printer/toner)
Ink cartridges can be recycled by the Cartridges 4 Planet Ark program who provide a free, easy and environmentally friendly way to recycle your used printer cartridges. You can drop off your used or empty laser and inkjet cartridges at all Officeworks stores and participating Australia Post, Cartridge World, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, JB Hi-Fi, Office National and Office Products Depot outlets.

Sustainability Victoria offers a free Detox Your Home service which allows you to safely dispose of toxic, unwanted household chemicals.
Medicines
Any out of date or unwanted medicines can be taken to your local pharmacy for disposal.
Soft plastics
Chip packets, cling wrap and plastic bags
We are trialling a soft plastics drop off station at Yarra’s Recycling Drop Off Centre in Clifton Hill. The types of clean soft plastics we accept are:
• plastic bags
• freezer bags
• postal bags
• newspaper plastic wrap
• shrink wrap
• pasta/rice/bread/biscuit outer bags (not shiny or metallised)
• frozen food packets
• bubble wrap
• plastic pockets

Syringes
If you find a syringe in a street or park or want someone to pick up a syringe from your property, you can request assistance from Councils syringe management service online or by calling us on 9205 5555.
