L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program
Yarra Youth Services offer volunteer supervising driver opportunities through their L2P – Learner Driver Mentor Program.
Neighbourhood House Programs
Yarra’s Neighbourhood Houses provide a range of programs and activities specifically for their local communities. Volunteer opportunities regularly become available, contact the centres directly.
Yarra Volunteer Leaders Network
Founded in November 2018, the Yarra Volunteer Leaders Network (YVLN) is a support group for people with an interest in volunteerism in the Yarra municipality. The network aims to create an inviting and open forum based on sharing and mutual respect.
The key objectives of the network is to:
- Connect and network with other people with an interest in supporting volunteering
- Collaborate on joint initiatives
- Provide professional development opportunities
- Share learnings and resources
- Promote volunteering and advocate for volunteers rights
- Engage with the community, and
- Plan more sustainable and systematic volunteering practices.
Meetings are held quarterly at the Richmond Town Hall and membership is open to anyone with an interest in supporting and strengthening volunteering in the City of Yarra.
This may include Managers/Coordinators of volunteers or organisations wanting to start a new volunteer initiative.

Free skills training for volunteers and community groups
Sharpen your skills by joining our free community training program. Different sessions are run throughout the year to support volunteers, people who manage volunteers, members of committees, not-for profit and community organisations in Yarra to help them run as effectively as possible.
This is a great opportunity for people involved in local community organisations to seek advice and information about how to apply for grants, managing relationships, project management and media strategies.

HelpOUT is Volunteering Victoria's service targeted at spontaneous emergency volunteers. It operates operates year-round and registers interested volunteers, linking them to organisations working in disaster-affected communities.

Leadership Victoria now includes the GreatConnections program.
We provide a range of community grants as well as discounted hire of Council venues to not-for-profit community groups who operate in Yarra.
Volunteer Grants of funding between $1,000 and $5,000 to help not-for-profit organisations are also available through federal government.
Yarra Volunteer Strategy
We value volunteerism in our municipality and are therefore developing a volunteer strategy for the City of Yarra, which is a key initiative of the Council Plan 2017-2021.
We are currently collating your feedback and developing a draft strategy which will be out for public exhibition in May this year, to coincide with National Volunteer Week.
