Parking meters

Ticket machine upgrade

We are replacing all existing parking meters in Yarra over the next 5 years.

These new parking meters are designed to keep our city moving, offering more flexible payment options and the convenience of not needing a ticket.

We have already installed 67 new parking meters in Smith Street, Brunswick Street and Gertrude Street.

Another 61 meters will be installed in Bridge Road, Swan Street and Erin Street during early October 2018.

When you use a parking space with one of the new meters you will need to make sure you have your vehicle registration ready to type into the parking meter.

At the parking meter follow the prompts and press the buttons firmly to enter your vehicle registration number and payment options.

Then select your payment method. Accepted payments include:

  • Mastercard
  • Visa
  • coins
  • Paystay app

It’s important to press OK to finalise a coin transaction, and don’t forget to check the expiry time on the screen.

Faulty parking meters

If you park your vehicle in a ticketed parking area and the machine is faulty you can SMS 0421 269 030 or contact us on 9205 5555 with the following information:

  • The meter ID
  • Your vehicle registration number

What happens next?

Once you have submitted your report you are allowed to park for the maximum amount of time listed on the parking sign. For example, if it is 2P you may park for 2 hours.

If you do receive a parking fine you must appeal it and include the reference number you were given in your appeal.

For any questions please call us on 9205 5555 or email info@yarracity.vic.gov.au
