Have your say on how you want your street to look and feel

Thursday 17 March 2022

Yarra City Council has adopted a new program called Local Liveable Streets which aims to improve the municipality’s streetscapes.

Presented alongside Yarra’s Place Making Framework, Local Liveable Streets outlines the ways the community can influence and support future improvements to their local streets.

“Including our community is so important to us at Yarra, and Local Liveable Streets is a new way for residents to have a say when it comes to planning and improving the streets they call home,” said Mayor Cr Sophie Wade.

“Yarra is full of creative, innovative minds, and Local Liveable Streets provides a clear way for people who have ideas for local street improvements to get involved.”

Local Liveable Streets builds on—rather than replaces—other Council policies and strategies that apply to local streets.

An updated version of the Place Making Framework, which was presented to Council on Tuesday 5 October 2021, was also adopted by Council last week.

The Place Making Framework outlines the key areas in Yarra that would benefit from specific and coordinated planning, and proposes approaches that enhance look, feel and vitality of the municipality.
