Councillors’ Briefings provide an informal environment in which Councillors can be provided with detailed information about matters without the time and procedural constraints that apply to a Council meeting. The briefings are intended to operate as a forum for discussion and for Councillors to ask questions of Council staff and others.
No Council decisions can be made at Councillors’ Briefings. A matter that requires a Council resolution must be presented at a Council meeting instead.
Summaries of Councillors’ Briefings are provided below. We cannot legally publish some information that is confidential. This information is shown as ‘Confidential Matter’ in the summary, together with the clause that explains why it is confidential (from the Local Government Act 1989).
