Structure plans and Local Area Plans

What is a structure plan?

Structure plans guide change in our larger commercial centres.

They define the preferred direction for future growth and set out how this change will be managed.

The plans provide the preferred vision for land use, the height, setback and spacing of buildings and the types of public spaces that we want to see in our commercial centres.

What structure plans do we have in Yarra?

We have adopted structure plans for Victoria Street and Swan Street. You can read copies of the plans here:

What is a local area plan?

A local area plan is very like a structure plan but it guides change in other commercial centres.

They establish the preferred direction for future growth in these centres and set out how this change will be managed.

They also provide the preferred vision for land use, the height, setback and spacing of buildings and the types of public spaces that we want to see in our local centres.
