Capital works map

Yarra City Council has developed an interactive Capital Works Map so our community can stay up-to-date on exciting infrastructure projects and maintenance works across the city.

The City of Yarra is a hive of construction activity with hundreds of capital works projects on the go – in the last financial year, Council completed 251 capital works projects.

Functional, up-to-date and sustainable infrastructure is essential for the wellbeing of our community – whether it’s swimming in Yarra’s pools, borrowing books from our libraries, walking your dog in our parks or getting around on safe, high-quality footpaths and roads. That’s why Yarra City Council is working for you to deliver hundreds of capital works projects each year.

Infrastructure and other assets in Yarra are valued at a total of over $2 billion. These assets are used to deliver important services to the community and grouped into 4 key categories:

  • buildings such as libraries, town halls and leisure centres
  • transport such as roads, laneways and footpaths
  • stormwater such as drainage pits and pipes
  • open space such as playgrounds, parks, trees and sporting fields

Infrastructure assets are managed in the best interests of the community, through cost-effective plans and processes outlined in the Asset Plan 2022-32.

Each financial year, Council allocates funds for the renewal and upgrade of Yarra’s infrastructure assets.

This extensive capital works program aims to improve community safety and usability, ensure longevity and reliability of assets and make our city more vibrant and liveable – now and into the future.

Yarra Mayor Edward Crossland said the new map is a fantastic tool for the community to stay up-to-date on works in their area.

“Whether it’s upgraded toilets, footpath renewals, new bike lanes or expanded parks, the Capital Works Map is a great tool for providing visibility to our community and keeping everyone informed on the exciting infrastructure and maintenance projects happening across the neighbourhood.”
