Yarra City Council is delivering additional electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure at Collingwood Town Hall and Richmond offices. 

With the support of the Victorian Government and the Northern Alliance for Greenhouse Action (NAGA) an additional 9 charging points have been installed between the two sites.

Yarra City Council has invested $84,600 to the project, with a further in-kind contribution of $4,950 for staffing costs from both Council and NAGA to deliver the project.

The Victorian Government has contributed $22,542 to the project through their EV Charging for Council Fleets program. 

The project includes:

• 3 single 22kW chargers installed at the 345 Bridge Road offices and,
• 3 dual 22kW chargers installed at rear Collingwood Town Hall.

Council has also procured four Nissan Leaf EVs which will replace four internal combustion fleet cars, taking a further step towards our zero emissions target.

Mayor Claudia Nguyen said the delivery of additional EV chargers and new EV fleet are well needed.

“Sustainable transport is a key step to achieving our target of net-zero emissions by 2030. These new EV chargers are a step away from fossil fuel powered vehicles, towards a clean, sustainable fleet of electric vehicles.”

“Transitioning to a full zero emissions fleet will reduce our emissions by approximately 700 tonnes of carbon annually and demonstrates our leadership and commitment to sustainable methods of transportation in Yarra.”
