Yarra Community Awards 2023 nominations now open banner

Nominations are now open for Yarra City Council’s annual Community Awards – recognising those who make a difference in their community.

The awards are an opportunity to honour the everyday heroes who make Yarra such a wonderful place to live, work and visit.

They could be an inspiring sports coach, a local leader in sustainability, a champion for arts and culture, an advocate for inclusivity or someone who volunteers their time and efforts in other ways to benefit our Yarra community.

Do you know an individual or group who deserve to be recognised? It takes under 10 minutes to submit a nomination.

Your nominations help us discover the local heroes in our community, celebrate their achievements and share their stories.

The award categories are:

  • Citizen of the Year (aged 26 years or older)
  • Young Citizen of the Year (aged between 12 to 25 years)
  • Community Initiative of the Year
  • Contributions to Arts
  • Contributions to Sport
  • Contributions to Heritage
  • Contributions to Diversity and Inclusion
  • Contributions to Sustainability

Nominations close at 11.59pm on Sunday 3 September.

Winners in the Citizen, Young Citizen and Community Initiative of the Year categories will win a $500 prize, and winners in each of the remaining categories will win a $250 prize.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Wednesday 8 November.

Find out more and nominate your community hero on our Community Awards page.
