The former AMCOR industrial site located in Alphington, is a parcel of land that has been undergoing major redevelopment for more than six years. 

Part of this redevelopment requires a 30 metre section of land from the Yarra River be maintained for public access, as well as the construction of a new pedestrian and bike path along the river.

For some time, the riverbank in front of the AMCOR site has experienced slumping, and the private developer (Glenvill) has been testing and monitoring the land.

It’s anticipated that a report on the geotechnical, hydrological and ground water monitoring investigations will be provided to Council in the coming months. Council will then take time to review the recommendations. This process needs to be carefully managed to ensure the health, safety and longevity of this section of the Yarra River is maintained.

Council will update the community with any developments as they arise.
