Changes to access at Walmer Street Bridge

Changes to access at the Walmer Street Bridge in Abbotsford will be occurring from mid-August 2022.
The Walmer Street Bridge which connects Abbotsford in Yarra and Kew in Boroondara will be closed for a period of approximately 8 months as the City of Boroondara completes the reconstruction of the bridge’s northern end.
The works are needed as the northern section of the bridge is in poor condition and must be replaced. Alternative routes for pedestrians and cyclists will be in place during this period.

City of Yarra and City of Boroondara continue to advocate for a new fit-for-purpose bridge at Walmer Street funded by the Victorian Government to better meet the needs of cyclists and pedestrian now and into the future.
PLEASE NOTE: These works are complete and Walmer Street Bridge reopened on 21 December 2023.
