Mayoral election

Last night a special meeting of Council was held to elect Yarra's new Mayor for the next 12 months.

In accordance with the Local Government Act 2020, Council must reach a majority vote for a new Mayor to be elected.

As this did not occur, Council will reconvene at 6pm on Tuesday, 23 November to elect a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

Cr Gabrielle de Vietri will remain as Mayor until a decision is reached.
