Meet Anna, a Yarra revolutionary

Anna Lindstad has lived in Yarra for over 20 years and thinks the Yarra Waste Revolution is a “great initiative”. Anna describes herself as an Abbotsford resident and architect with a sustainability bent. She says: “We can all do more. My mother drove all our recycling to a depot that the Scouts ran when I was young, which was an admirable benchmark. So any collection is appreciated!”

For Anna the biggest change so far has been separating glass and the new food and green waste bin.

“The green bin will be used for clippings etc. I was guilty of putting this in general waste in the past unless my neighbour could use it for kindling.”

Anna says it’s important we change how we recycle so we can minimise waste and put waste to its best use. “[This] has big impacts,” she adds.

She has found it “tricky” fitting all the bins into her small courtyard garden. If this is a problem for you, you can request a smaller food and green waste bin. Let us know what you need by emailing [email protected] with your full address. You can upsize your recycling bin if you need a larger one.

If you’d like to share how you’re going in the Yarra Waste Revolution, we’d love to hear from you. Perhaps you’ve got a story about how you’ve switched to reusable nappies or have a great food waste hack – just email [email protected].
