Drinking in public places - have your say

Tuesday 04 June 2019

We’re reviewing our rules on alcohol in public places, and we’d love to hear your views.

At the moment, we don’t allow people to drink alcohol in Yarra’s public places.

Some public places, including many of our parks and reserves, are excluded from these rules. In these ‘prescribed areas’ drinking is allowed between 9am and 9pm each day.

Our new draft local law keeps these basic rules in place. Our aim is to ensure our shared spaces are safe and welcoming.

We now invite you to take our 3-minute survey at the project page. There you can also see a full copy of the new draft local law, a list of changes from the previous local law, and a list of the current prescribed areas.

You can also ask questions and provide feedback in person:

Where: Gleadell Street Market, Richmond
When: Saturday 15 June, any time between 10am and midday
