No interruption to recycling in Yarra

Thursday 21 February 2019

Household recyclables will continue to be collected and processed as usual in Yarra, and there are no plans to send any of this material to landfill.

We provide this guidance in light of the recent media coverage of the suspension of SKM recycling depots in Coolaroo and Laverton North.

Yarra Council is not among the councils impacted by this decision, so we are encouraging our residents to continue recycling and putting their bins out for collection.

While Yarra is not affected by this most recent development, the entire local government sector faces significant recycling challenges.

We can all play our part by being mindful of the products we buy, the amount of waste we generate and recycling the right way to reduce contamination in the bin.

You can also help by choosing products made with recycled materials.
