Road works

Yarra Trams is replacing tram tracks along St Georges Road. Replacement buses and extensive works will begin 10pm Saturday 24 November and continue until 5am Saturday 1 December. Works will be taking place 24/7, with the noisiest activities scheduled between 6am and 10pm.

Road closures and traffic impacts

From 10pm Sunday 25 November until 5am Tuesday 27 November, St Georges Road between Scotchmer and Park Street will be closed.
Traffic will also be impacted between Scotchmer Street, North Fitzroy, to Aberdeen Grove, Northcote at other times. Yarra Trams has more information about when and where road closures will take place.

There will be no access to driveways adjacent the work zones and no through-roads along St Georges Road during the major works road closure. Yarra Trams recommends parking in side streets with access away from the work zone, noting local parking restrictions.

Modified tram routes and replacement buses

Route 11 trams will run as Route 11a, with buses replacing trams between Stop 12 St Vincent’s Plaza and West Preston, diverting around the work zone. The following stops won’t be serviced by a replacement bus:

  • Stop 23 Park St
  • Stop 24 Holden St
  • Stop 25 Miller St
  • Stop 26 Clarke St (to West Preston only)

For more information about the replacement bus services, see Yarra Trams.

Businesses remain open

Shops and businesses along the route will be trading as usual and pedestrian access to shops will remain open at all times.

If you are travelling to North Fitzroy Village, you can take the replacement bus, or tram route 96 (Nicholson St) which is about a 7 minute walk, or travel by train to Rushall Station (Mernda, Hurstbridge lines) which is a 9 minute walk.

If you are travelling to Brunswick Street, you can take the replacement bus, or tram route 96 (Nicholson St) or 86 (Gertrude St and Smith St) which are within 5 minute walks.

Cycling and driving routes are not impacted around Brunswick Street.

Please continue to support your local businesses during these essential infrastructure works.

Waste collection

Waste collection will continue as normal. We will work with Yarra Trams to make sure we can collect waste from all residents in the work zone. Please continue to put your bins out to the kerb as you usually would.
