Helping people live well in Yarra

living well in yarra

We are seeking community feedback on two important plans we have developed on active and healthy ageing, and access and inclusion.

The plans are based on over 250 ideas we received from extensive community consultations in February and March 2018 where we asked how we could support older people and people with disability to live full and active lives.

From these ideas, we have developed two draft plans:

Active and Healthy Ageing in Yarra strategy 2018-2024

This plan outlines how we will continue to support older people to live well in Yarra.

It is based on community feedback we received that told us your top priorities for older people are:

  • Open space - access to local parks and gardens
  • Community facilities - such as libraries and leisure centres
  • Social and community programs - to connect with other people and the benefits of socialisation and exercise
  • Independence - the ability to live independently

You can read the full strategy and action plan online and give us feedback to make sure we got it right.

Access and Inclusion strategy 2018-2024

This plan outlines how we will support people with a disability to live full and active lives.

It is based on community feedback we received that told us your priorities for access and inclusion are:

  • Freedom - improving accessibility to infrastructure, facilities and amenities
  • Life experiences - promoting and encouraging mainstream participation, representation and community leadership
  • Knowledge - supporting employment and career development opportunities
  • Independence - creating welcoming and inclusive practices and culture

You can read the full strategy and action plan online and give us feedback to make sure we got it right.
