Hoddle Street has now reopened from Noone Street and Victoria Parade.  However, there are still lane closures and changes to traffic conditions along Hoddle Street.

This construction work is part of VicRoads 'Streamlining Hoddle Street' project. Vicroads are working in 3 key construction zones along Hoddle Street:  Vere Street to Johnston Street Johnston Street to Truro Street Abbot Grove to Alexandra Parade North, including on the Hoddle Street bridge.

Most of the works are happening behind the safety barriers in the centre of the road and will continue behind the barriers until April with the project completed mid-year.

Changes to traffic conditions along Hoddle Street from January to April

  • 3 traffic lanes and a bus/parking lane operating southbound between the Eastern Freeway and Vere Street
  • 3 traffic lanes operating northbound between Vere Street and Alexandra Parade
  • No right turns into Johnston Street while VicRoads builds the new 'P-turn' intersection.
  • No right turns into Truro Street
  • Pedestrian detours
  • No cycling over the Hoddle Street bridge - cyclists should dismount.
  • Reduced speed limits

 Allow extra travel time

Some delays will remain in the area. Please allow for extra travel time as these works take place.  If Hoddle Street is part of your journey plan ahead to avoid this area completely and find alternative routes, check real time travel advice and allow plenty of time to get to your destination.
