After 15 years of operation, we have revoked the policy 'Environment - Contaminated Sites, Safety and Soil Contamination Policy' which was originally adopted on 3 September 2002. 

The key components of this policy have been incorporated into the attached operational guidance document - 'Soil Contamination Management Guidelines for Operational Staff'. 

We have done this because: 

• due to the ever-changing nature of contamination issues, risk management is fundamental to effective management of contaminated sites
• we have in place effective measures to manage the risks associated with contaminated sites and these guidelines better record the steps Council has and will take to manage these risks.
