The Fitzroy Market, based in the vibrant inner city suburb of Fitzroy (just a block from Brunswick St and Smith St) has been running for 8 years. The market features over 75 stalls consisting of all things second hand, vintage and hand-made plus some yummy food.

We talk to Fiona Newton about how  it's going; "The market has has had a great reception not only from the local community but from visitors from far and wide. We have raised thousands of dollars for our community partners – Fitzroy Primary School and Fitzroy Learning Network through the generous gold coin donations from patrons!"

Fiona is inspired by many local businesses, including Cultivating Community which provides sustainable food options in Yarra, HoMie which is  a clothing store on the corner of Brunswick St and Johnson that provides job opportunities for the homeless, Circus Oz with its awesome program for kids and the Fitzroy Learning Network for its refugee support programs.

And she has good things to say about Yarra. "The City of Yarra is, in our opinion, the most vibrant, creative and fun place to live in Melbourne (or even Australia). The street art, the cafes, bars and restaurants, festivals and markets make it an endless place to explore and the market is a perfect fit for the area."
