ACMD are calling artists for the 2018 acquisitive art prize

Thursday 15 March 2018 - Friday 20 July 2018

2017 acquisitive award winner: Serene Lau, Vanitas, coloured pencils on paper, 2017

The Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD) are inviting emerging and established artists to participate in the 2018 ACMD acquisitive art prize, with a $2,000 award for the winning artist. Entries are due by Friday 20 July.

This art prize is organised by the Fitzroy campus of St Vincent's Hospital and is part of the ACMD Research Week from Monday 6 August to Friday 10 August.

Artists are invited to respond to the theme 'art in science, science in art' by exploring the intersection between these two disciplines through the artistic medium. Entries are due by Friday 20 July and final art works must be submitted by Friday 27 July.

The winning entry will be awarded the acquisitive award of $2,000 and will become part of the St Vincent's Hospital art collection. There will also be a People’s Choice Award of $100 and a St Vincent’s Staff Award of $100.

All entries that meet the guidelines will be displayed in the St Vincent's Hospital gallery in Fitzroy throughout August. The 2018 ACMD art exhibition will be held at St Vincent’s gallery from Wednesday 1 August to Thursday 30 August.

The winners will be announced and presented with prizes on the opening night on Tuesday 7 August.
