How do I enrol in a citizenship ceremony in Yarra?
Once an application for citizenship is approved, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection will send you and your family members invitations to the next available citizenship ceremony in Yarra.
How long do I have to wait to be in a ceremony?
This can take up to 6 months, depending on the attendance waiting list.
The waiting list to attend a ceremony is managed solely by Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

I have been invited to attend a citizenship ceremony. What do I do need to do?
Once you have received your letter from both the Department of Immigration and Border Protection and Yarra Council, you are now ready to attend the ceremony.
Here are a few key pieces of information;
- You are also welcome to bring up to 3 guests with you.
- You need to arrive 30 minutes before the official proceedings begin so we can register you and show you to your seat.
- You will need to bring proof of identification. A passport or Australian drivers licence are both accepted.
- The dress code for the event is smart casual (with traditional dress encouraged)
- We will have a professional photographer at the ceremony, however if you do not wish to be photographed, please let a staff member know on arrival.
