About our pool

The iconic Fitzroy Swimming Pool is a favourite summer playground for all Melbournians.

In 1994 activism saved the pool from closure. Our famous Aqua Profonda sign is heritage listed, honouring our multicultural history, come and check it out for yourself.

Operating hours

Refer to Perfect Gym for lap lane availability. 

Monday to Friday: 6am to 9pm

Saturday and Sunday: 7am to 7pm

Monday 27 January Public Holiday: 8am to 6pm

Use our lane availability tool to see how many lanes are available for public swimming.

The toddler pool is currently open for the summer season from 9am to 6pm everyday. 

Monday to Friday: 6am to 9pm

Saturday and Sunday: 7am to 7pm

Capacity on hot days

To maintain your health and safety, we have a venue capacity limit of 480.

The pool is popular on hot days and there's sometimes a queue to get in. This will be because the aquatic area is at capacity. On these days, we adopt a 1-person-in, 1-person-out approach.

The Victorian Government and Life Saving Victoria determines our capacity.
