Economic research

We use a range of research to understand our economy and businesses.

The economic profile provides an interactive snapshot of our workforce and industries, and the role of tourism and trends in the local economy.

The community profile is based on Census of Population and Housing results dating back to 1991. Population estimates are updated when the Australian Bureau of Statistics releases new figures.

Our Economic Development Strategy 2020-2025 [ PDF, 1.75 MB] outlines how we work with local businesses to support economic growth.

Our research

Each year, we visit ground-floor businesses across our 12 retail precincts to:

  • record vacancies and changes to business tenancies
  • monitor tends
  • assist with our strategic planning.

We record this information in our precinct pulse fact sheets. Visit our shopping page for information and pulse fact sheets for our retail precincts.
