Yarraberg Children’s Centre is an early learning and childcare service in Richmond, welcoming 54 children from 6 weeks to 6 years old.

We’re a family and community-focused centre with a warm, lived-in atmosphere. Children are encouraged to be creative and explore and move freely between our light-filled indoor and outdoor spaces.

Relationships are fundamental to strengthening our educators' knowledge of what a child can do, know and understand. We take into account each family's culture and traditions to create a supportive environment that promotes a lifelong love of learning.

Email us to book a tour to visit our centre and chat to one of our educators.

What to expect

Our curriculum centres around the children’s ideas, skills and knowledge. Our team of educators works with families to set goals, then plans for the children to reach these goals through play.

  • highly qualified and dedicated educators
  • a supportive environment for children to play and learn
  • strong relationships with families, taking into account their culture and traditions
  • a focus on teaching children about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives
  • a focus on environmentally sustainable practices and our impact on our world
  • a focus on supporting children’s overall wellbeing
  • regular outings and excursions in our local community
  • delicious and healthy meals prepared by our qualified onsite cook
  • a communication platform for you to share and receive updates about your child – access this from mobile device via the Xplor app.
  • respect for the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Peoples by valuing traditional knowledge and cultures of this land.

Early childhood experts agree that play is the best way for young children to learn. Children can become immersed in their experiences to develop an understanding of their world.

We give children opportunities to:

  • paint, draw, cut, paste and create
  • climb, run, jump, crawl and dance
  • read, write, count and discuss
  • pretend, dress up and imagine
  • meditate, relax and stretch
  • practice social interactions and form relationships
  • explore, investigate and hypothesise
  • dig, cook, mould and meld.

Please put these items in your child’s bag:

  • a change of clothes
  • a drink bottle
  • a sun hat.

On cool or wet days, please provide gumboots and a warm, waterproof jacket.

Younger children should bring:

  • a comfort toy
  • a dummy (if needed)
  • formula in a measured dispenser (if needed) and bottles.

Please clearly label all belongings with your child’s name.
