Community celebration: 50th anniversary of Vietnamese migration

The City of Yarra and the Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association are planning a special event to commemorate the 50 year anniversary of Vietnamese refugees arriving in Australia.
The first generation of refugees began arriving in Australia under challenging circumstances after the Fall of Saigon in April 1975. Over the past five decades the Vietnamese community has contributed enormously to life in Australia and to the City of Yarra. Victoria Street in Richmond and Abbotsford has become one of Australia’s primary centres for Vietnamese culture, business and community.
We are honoured to be able to come together to commemorate the historical and cultural significance of this anniversary and the enormous contribution that the Vietnamese community has and continues to make to Australian life.
Join Yarra Councillors and staff, Vietnamese organisations, community members and leaders as well as other local refugee and migrant community groups to celebrate this important milestone.

- Collingwood Station is a 3-minute walk from the Collingwood Town Hall on the Hurstbridge and Mernda lines.
- Several bus routes run along Hoddle Street including the 905/906/907/908 from the city.
- Bike parking facilities available.
- Free, time-restricted parking is available in the surrounding streets.
- Accessible parking can be found in the Collingwood Station carpark adjacent to Collingwood Library.
