Music and amplified sound

The sound level at your event must balance patrons' enjoyment with the safety and amenity of other site users

The sound level at your event must balance patrons' enjoyment with the safety and amenity of other site users and surrounding residents and businesses.

Environmental Protection Authority noise legislation governs the sound allowed at events, including live and recorded music, voices and other amplified sounds.

The sound limit for an outdoor event is 65 decibels dB(A). If the event lasts more than five hours, it can only run between 12.00pm and 10.00pm.

You can manage your sound levels by effectively positioning amplifiers, stages and seating.

To ensure sound levels are within these limits, you may need to engage an acoustic consultant to monitor levels during the event activity.

Our Events Team can help provide advice on how to lay out your event site plan to minimise the impact of sound on local residents and businesses.
