Maternal and child health nurses assess the health and development of babies and children from birth until pre-school age, as well as sharing resources to support the parents/carers of babies and children. Whilst our title is ‘maternal’ and child health, this is a service for all mothers, fathers, parents and carers of young children.
Maternal and Child Health Nurses are Division 1 Registered Nurses (Ba Nsg) + Registered Midwives.
The registration body is Australian Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA)
MCHN hold 2 Post Graduate Diplomas: 1. Midwifery and 2. Child and Family Health.
