A free, voluntary in-home service provided to families living in Yarra with children aged 0-17 years, including pre-birth. The service promotes and protects the best interests of children by building on family strengths, working with families to develop new skills and increase links with the local community.
Yarra Family Services works with families from many diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Our Family Support program is also known as ‘Integrated Family Services’ in the community.
How can we help?
We try to help with the day-to-day stresses that families may be experiencing, making it easier for care giver–child relationships to grow. By removing these negative stresses, care givers have reported that they feel more confident and available to their children and that their family relationships improve.
With a particular focus on the safety and wellbeing of children, our program works with families to:
provide parenting support
increase quality of life
promote safe and respectful relationships
reduce feelings of isolation
ensure that families are linked to relevant supports and services
build resilience and problem solving skills.
What issues do we support families with?
This includes but is not limited to:
parenting concerns and managing children’s behaviours
family conflict and breakdown
physical or mental health issues
dealing with the impact of substance use or family violence
isolation and feeling a lack of connection with their community
connecting to other services and providing families with information.
How we work with families?
We work from a case work model, meeting with families regularly in their home or in the community.
The case worker will discuss with the care giver and children what support they might need and work on goals set for the family.
