Yarra City Council is calling on members of its diverse community to submit an Expression of Interest to take part in a Community Working Group which will help us plan for and prioritise our services for the years ahead.

Like all councils in Victoria, Yarra is facing financial challenges including the rising cost of service provision and the impact of population growth. That’s why we want to know what our community thinks about the services we provide to make sure we’re meeting the needs of our community and providing value for rates.

What’s involved?

The Community Working Group will come together over 4 workshops throughout February 2024 as part of our deliberatively engagement process, to recommend and identify principles which can be applied to future decision making around service provision and delivery. The workshops will be facilitated by an independent facilitator.

Taking part will involve attendance at the following sessions: 

• Induction: Thursday 8 February 2024, 5.30pm to 8.00pm
• Session 1: Saturday 10 February 2024, 10.00am to 3.30pm
• Session 2: Thursday 15 February 2024, 5.30pm to 8.00pm
• Session 3: Saturday 24 February 2024, 10.00am to 3.30pm.

Participants will receive a small payment for taking part. 

How can I get involved?

Complete an Expression of Interest form via the below link. From those who express an interest, our independent consultants will randomly select approximately 45 people who represent Yarra’s diverse community.

If you are interested in joining, but feel you made need some support to take part, please let us know when you complete your Expression of Interest form, and we will reach out to you to see how we can best support you if you are selected. 

The facilitators will contact you by email during the week of 22 January 2024 to let you know whether you’ve been successful.
