Citizens Park to undergo turf improvement works
Citizens Park oval will be closed from 15 to 29 September for intensive turf works to improve the durability and hardiness of the surface.
Richmond Citizens Park is one of Yarra’s most popular, used by football clubs, cricket clubs, dog owners, personal trainers and the neighbouring Richmond High School.
As a result, the surface gets a lot of wear and tear, and the oval is now in need of short-term, intensive turf works to improve the durability and hardiness of the surface.
To ensure the least amount of disruption in the least amount of time, works are planned for the second half of September while the oval is not used by Richmond High School students and we’re in between sporting seasons. This is to ensure the oval can be ready for the Richmond Union Cricket Club ahead of the coming season.
Given the nature of these works, access to the oval will not be permitted for two weeks from 6:00 am on Monday, 15 September to 6:00 am on Monday, 29 September.
Please note that during these works, the playground and oval surrounds will remain open with contractors on site.
