The purpose of the Environment Advisory Committee (the Committee) is to:
- Provide input into and feedback on the effective delivery of the Climate Emergency Plan 2024-2030 and Climate Emergency Action Plan 2024-2027.
- Provide input into and feedback on Council strategies and plans relevant to climate change, nature and biodiversity, waste, urban agriculture.
- Provide input into and feedback on Council programs and projects related to climate change, nature and biodiversity, waste, urban agriculture.
- Provide advice to Council on environmental issues relevant to the community.
- Provide support for Council’s environmental strategies, plans, programs and projects within the community.
The Environment Advisory Committee is an advisory committee of Council. The Committee has a purely strategic focus.
The Committee should focus on issues and opportunities that are relevant across the entire municipality.
The Environment Advisory Committee has no delegated decision-making power from Council.

The following Councillors have been appointed to the Environment Advisory Committee:
Applicants will be requested to submit a short statement of capabilities addressing the following criteria:
- A demonstrated interest or expertise in a range of topics discussed by the committee, for example, climate change, biodiversity, waste.
- An ability and commitment to consider the needs of the current and future Yarra community.
- A commitment to participating in four meetings per year.
As far as practicable, the composition of community members will reflect the diversity of the community in accordance with the Council Committees Policy [ PDF, 246.73 KB] .
