Councillor Gomez was elected at the 2024 Council elections to serve the Nicholls Ward, which includes the majority of Fitzroy North. Councillor Gomez has lived in Yarra for 21 years.
Councillor Gomez is focused on working towards safer streets, supporting local sporting clubs, improving active transport, libraries and supporting neighborhood houses that serve his residents. Councillor Gomez also wants to see Yarra reduce its carbon footprint and work towards reducing rubbish households and businesses create. Councillor Gomez also wants to see public housing protected in Yarra and new affordable housing constructed in a responsible way.
Councillor Gomez is a member of the:
- Audit and Risk Committee,
- Business Advisory Group,
- Financial Sustainability Advisory Committee,
- Heritage Advisory Committee,
- Planning Advisory Committee, and
- CEO Employment and Remuneration Committee.
Councillor Gomez has also been appointed as Yarra’s representative for the:
Nicholls Ward includes most of Fitzroy North. Nicholls Ward boundaries include Alexandra Parade, Brunswick Street, Reid Street, Smith Street, Queens Parade, Nicholson Street, Mary Street and the Merri Creek. 7,730 residents call Nicholls Ward home.
