Event summary

The Chair plays an important role in leading a successful group to achieve its desired outcomes. They are vital in guiding the behaviour of the group and the Chair, in particular, monitors and guides committee members to make positive contributions.

This workshop is focussed on the role of Chair. It breaks down what it takes to be an effective Chair and workshops how a Chair can positively influence culture and lead a high performing team. 

Topics include:

  • What it takes to be a high-performing Chair
  • Setting the culture of the group
  • Characteristics of an effective meeting
  • Facilitating the active participation of all group members
  • Creating open, respectful and constructive discussions between members
  • Managing difficult or unresponsive group members
  • Features of effective decision-making in groups
