Victoria Street Lunar Festival - 2025

The Victoria Street Lunar Festival returns in 2026, by welcoming the Year of the Horse.

Celebrate the Year of the Horse on Victoria Street, Richmond! Enjoy a vibrant day of street food, music, and cultural performances. Taste everything from dumplings to Korean BBQ, watch dazzling lion dances and firecrackers, and explore family-friendly fun with face painting and crafts.

Best way to get there

Take the train to North Richmond Station. No trams will be running between Hoddle and Victoria Streets. Visit the Public Transport Victoria website for all service changes. 

Accessibility features

There will be clearly marked drop-off areas and accessible toilets for all attendees. Footpaths will be kept clear for wheelchair and mobility scooter users. 

Road closures

Victoria Street will be closed between Hoddle Street and Church Street from 10pm on Saturday 31 January 2026, and will re-open at approximately 5am on Monday 2 February 2026. Route 12 and 109 trams will experience service changes from 3am to last tram on Sunday 1 February, due to these road closures. Visit the Public Transport Victoria website for all service changes and bus replacements.

Tow-away area Victoria Street

Victoria Street (between Hoddle and Church Street) Richmond will be a tow-away area to facilitate the traffic management for the 2026 Victoria Street Lunar Festival. This tow-away area takes affect from 5.00pm on Saturday 31 January 2026 and expires at 5am on Monday 2 February 2026.

Stay safe and cool 

It's often warm to hot during the event and we encourage attendees to:

  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water (bring your bottle and fill up from one of the water stations at the Festival).
  • Bring a small towel that can be dampened to help you stay cool.
  • Wear light, breathable clothing and a hat.
  • Apply sunscreen and seek shade whenever possible.
  • Take breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas (such as the HIVE shopping centre on the corner of Victoria and Nicholson Streets).
  • Look out for signs of heat exhaustion and seek medical assistance if needed (First Aid will be available on site).
