The Australian Veterinary Association together with Local Council have developed a scheme in providing low income pet owners with a reduction in the cost of desexing their dogs and cats. The scheme aims to ensure everyone has access to the desexing procedure for their pet.
The discount voucher will provide up to 25% off the procedure at participating local Vets.
To be eligible for a desexing voucher, you will need to hold one of the following concession cards:
- Pension Concession Card or Veterans Gold Card (War Widow or TPI)
- Health Care Card
- Low Income Health Care Card
- Commonwealth Seniors Card
To apply for a voucher, please submit an online enquiry below and provide a copy of your eligible concession card.
ReQUEST A DESEXING VOUCHER
Desexing voucher scheme conditions
- Vouchers are only available to residents within City of Yarra. Proof of residency is required.
- Pets must be vaccinated and have a current vaccination certificate
- Maximum of two vouchers will be issued per household
- Vouchers are only valid for one month from the date of issue
How the voucher works
As veterinary practices differ in techniques the cost of desexing will vary from vet to vet.
This scheme allows the pet owner to pay the difference in cost after a discount of 25% of the advertised desexing price at the veterinary practice and the council contribution have both been subtracted. Vets will then invoice Yarra for the Council contribution.
