Find information about syringe disposal, how to report loose syringes and where to take full syringe containers
If you find a syringe in a park, laneway or footpath/kerb channel, you can:
- Report a discarded syringe online (monitored during business hours) or
- Call us on 9205 5555 (monitored 24 hours, including weekends and public holidays).
If a sharps unit in a park toilet or laneway is full or damaged, please lodge a request online or call us on 9205 5555.
Collecting and using a syringe disposal container
Finding a container
The Department of Health recommends using an approved syringe disposal container. Innerspace in Collingwood provide free syringe disposal containers if you want to remove a used syringe.

Alternatively, the department recommends a hard plastic container such as an empty detergent bottle.

Yarra City Council does not collect or provide sharps containers. In Yarra, four collection points accept full syringe disposal containers.
