Food relief options in Yarra

Wednesday 09 June 2021

Yarra Council and Yarra Libraries have coordinated food relief options for residents who need them.

These include fresh food packages and pre-made frozen meals.

To cater to dietary requirements, we will work to have vegetarian, vegan and halal options wherever possible.

All meals are free and will be available during the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdowns and recovery. Please bring a bag to any of the following centres.

Pre-made frozen meals will be available at:

  • Bargoonga Nganjin North Fitzroy Library (BNNFL) on Thursdays from 4pm to 7pm. and developed for international students and visa holders. However, we welcome anyone that could use a little extra support.

We also have a community pantry at BNNFL with basic pantry items that are available to anyone that needs them. This is available anytime during Library Opening hours.

Fresh food packages will be available at:

  • Napier Street near Atherton Gardens on Fridays from 12.30pm to 1.30pm. This is available to all residents.

These programs are supported by FareShare, Open Table and Cultivating Community. They also build on the extensive food and material relief conducted by Yarra Libraries throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
