Yarra Council is calling for Expressions of Interest to join the new Edinburgh Gardens Working Group

Thursday 20 May 2021

We are seeking nominations from Yarra community members who would like to be part of the Edinburgh Gardens Working Group.

Council resolved to establish the group in response to community feedback suggesting an advisory group be created. The purpose of the group is to:

“advise and inform Council on future management of the Gardens in peak periods over summer and public holidays.”

Read the Edinburgh Gardens Working Group Terms of Reference.

Who are the members?

We’re keen to hear diverse opinions across the local community, as well as from key user groups.

We also want to ensure that park users of all ages are represented in the working group, including younger residents.

The group will be comprised of representatives from a a variety of park user groups including:

  • Local residents
  • Casual park users
  • Fitzroy North Primary School
  • Local sporting clubs

In addition to local residents, clubs and user groups, the Edinburgh Gardens Working Group will include Councillors O’Brien, Stone and Wade.

This EOI is for Yarra community representatives and casual park users. We will be reaching out separately to the sporting clubs and primary school.

When and where will the meetings take place?

The first meeting will take place in July 2021. At this stage the aim is to meet at the Edinburgh Gardens Community Room. There is also the potential for some meetings to be conducted online.

Please state your preference for in-person or online meetings when you complete the EOI form.

How often will the group meet?

The intention is for the group to meet four times - once in July, August, September and October.

How do I get involved?

This EOI is now closed (on Friday 25 June).
