Yarra Council has opened a new cardboard recycling drop off at the Burnley Depot, located at 440 Burnley Street in Burnley.

“We’ve been told by our community that they have significantly more cardboard recycling since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and sometimes there is not enough space in their recycling bins to accommodate this,” said Yarra Mayor Cr Gabrielle de Vietri.

“We are constantly looking for new ways to help support Yarra residents and businesses to adjust to our new 3-bin waste and recycling service, and this new cardboard recycling drop-off is just one of these initiatives.”

Starting today, businesses and residents in Yarra will be able to drop off their recyclable cardboard at the Burnley Depot. The cardboard recycling drop off will be accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Yarra also has a recycling drop-off centre in Clifton Hill at 168 Roseneath Street, where a variety of items can be dropped off during opening hours including extra cardboard recycling.

“By locating the new cardboard drop-off in Burnley, we are making our recycling drop-off service more accessible to those who live in the southern part of Yarra,” said Cr de Vietri.

Yarra residents will need to flatten their recycling before dropping it off at Burnley Depot.
