The Abbotsford Convent will join the ranks of Tokyo, Belgium, Toronto and Brussels which have been 'sound mapped' by 86 year old Akio Suzuki, a Japanese sound artist who created the 'oto da te' practice of urban listening over 30 years. Akio will identify 15-20 points from which to listen to the Convent, stencilling each spot with two ears, positioned like footprints. Visitors to the Abbotsford Convent's will be invited to follow a map to find the 'listening points' from which to contemplate the surroundings - a very meditative and therapeutic activity for people of any age.

O to da te is presented at the Abbotsford Convent as part of WinterLIVE festival, but will be accessible from 10 July onwards.
