A Room of One's Own is a series of digitally illustrated prints by artist Juliet Miranda Rowe. Each image offers a glimpse into different rooms Rowe has lived in, drawing the viewer into their private, curated spaces.
The domestic spaces without any humans present evoke the miniature worlds of dollhouses. Familiar, inviting while a little unsettling. Referencing the controlled environments, we create in our homes, where we arrange objects and spaces to tell stories about ourselves. How much do we control the narrative of the spaces we inhabit?
A Room of One's Own explores the tension between public and private life. The display cases, like windows in a high-rise building, give the audience the power to observe the intimate lives of others, a reflection of our fascination with looking into the unseen spaces of people’s homes. Inviting viewers to question their role as spectators, playing with the subtle boundary between curiosity and intrusion.
