Join the 'Cycle' this National Recycling Week: 10-16 November 2025

This National Recycling Week, Yarra City Council is encouraging everyone to “Join the Cycle” by rethinking what we buy, how we use it, and how we can keep materials in use for longer.

07 Nov 2025

From Monday 10 November to Sunday 16 November, Yarra will be celebrating Planet Ark’s National Recycling Week 2025 – “Join the Cycle”, a campaign that highlights how small actions can make a big difference.

A recent audit found that the average Yarra resident produces 4.83kg of rubbish each week, and more than half of that could be recycled. By making small changes — like refusing single-use items, reusing containers and recycling correctly — we can all help reduce waste to landfill and support Yarra’s growing circular economy.

Have your say: Waste and Recycling Strategy

Council is developing a new Waste and Recycling Strategy to ensure we have a waste service that is sustainable and meets the needs of future generations.

Have your say to help us develop a strategy that will inform the future of our waste services by completing the online survey before 9 am on Monday 8 December 2025.

To learn more, visit Your Say Yarra.

You can also chat with our team in person at one of our pop-up consultation sessions during Recycling Week:

  • Monday 10 November, 4pm to 6 pm – Peel Street Park, Collingwood

  • Friday 14 November, 11.30am to 1pm – Clifton Hill Recycling Centre

Meet Council officers, ask questions, and share your feedback on the future of waste in Yarra.
