Councillor Wade was first elected to Yarra City Council in 2020 and was re-elected in 2024. Sophie served as Mayor of Yarra between November 2020 and November 2021.
Sophie represents Hoddle Ward, which is the suburb of Collingwood. Sophie has lived in Collingwood for eight years, plays netball in Clifton Hill, is a regular user of Yarra’s excellent library service, and enjoys catching up with friends at our thriving local venues.
Sophie’s priorities include working to ensure people of all ages and abilities can get around by walking, wheeling, cycling and public transport, advocating for more public housing, building more open space for our inner-city neighbourhoods, and supporting First Nations and refugee justice. Councillor Wade will continue to work for stronger action on climate over this term of Council.
Councillor Wade is a member of the:
- Active Transport Advisory Committee,
- Housing Advisory Committee,
- Yana Ngargna Advisory Committee, and
- CEO Employment and Remuneration Committee.
She has also been appointed as Yarra’s representative for the Metropolitan Transport Forum. Outside of Council, Sophie is a competition and consumer lawyer in Melbourne.
Hoddle Ward encompasses the suburb of Collingwood. Hoddle Ward’s boundaries include Victoria Parade, Smith Street, Alexandra Parade and Hoddle Street. 6,936 electors call Hoddle Ward home.
