The Arts Advisory Committee has been established to provide input into the implementation and renewal of:

  • Yarra’s Arts and Cultural Strategy
  • Public Art Policy
  • Collection Policy

The Committee will input and provide a formal mechanism regarding the acquisition and removal of items, objects and artworks into Council’s Civic Collection.

The Committee will provide advice on matters related to the strategic direction of Council’s art and heritage collection, arts programming, creative infrastructure and advocacy initiatives.

The Committee will provide comment on relevant Council policies and strategies.

The Committee is an advisory committee of Council. The Committee has a purely strategic focus.

The Committee should focus on issues and opportunities that are relevant across the entire municipality.

The Committee has no delegated decision-making power from Council.

  • 2 Councillors (appointed annually)
  • A maximum of 10 community members.

Appointed Councillors (2024/25) 

The following Councillors have been appointed to the Arts Advisory Committee:

To be eligible as a community representative, members must live, work, study or have connections to Yarra City Council Local Government Area (LGA) and/or Yarra’s cultural sector and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Background, professional experience or expertise in creative industries or cultural sector e.g. professional practice in visual arts, public art, performing arts, multi-arts, producing, arts administration.
  • Place based disciplines such as place making, urban design, or other creative/arts/cultural related discipline.

As far as practicable, the composition of community members will reflect the diversity of the community in accordance with the Council Committees Policy.
