Councillor Sarah McKenzie was elected Deputy Mayor of Yarra City Council on November 19, 2024.
Councillor McKenzie was elected at the 2024 Council elections to serve the Yarra Bend Ward, which includes all of Clifton Hill and parts of Fairfield and Alphington. Councillor McKenzie grew up in Alphington and has lived in Clifton Hill since 2020.
Councillor McKenzie is a member of the:
- Active Ageing Advisory Committee
- Arts Advisory Committee
- Family and Children’s Services Advisory Committee
- Housing Advisory Committee, and
- CEO Employment and Remuneration Committee.
Councillor McKenzie wants to work with everyone across Yarra to see stronger council services that bring community together and ensure a particular focus on tackling the housing crisis.
Councillor McKenzie is a proud unionist and feminist. In her professional career, Councillor McKenzie works as a researcher at an independent think tank.
Yarra Bend Ward includes all of Clifton Hill and parts of Fairfield and Alphington. Yarra Wards boundaries include the Yarra River, Eastern Freeway and Alexandra Parade in the South, also Heidelberg Road in the north and Smith Street, Queens Parade and Alexandra Parade in the south. 7,846 residents call Yarra Bend Ward home.
