Yarra Apartment Building Electrification pilot program
Everyone deserves access to the benefits of electrification including saving on energy bills, improving property value, reducing emissions and healthier indoor air quality.
While there are a number of resources and programs out there to help standalone houses, apartment building electrification is different as there is no single template for every building. Some buildings should start with shared hot water. Others should begin with solar sharing, common-area solar, switchboard upgrades or EV charging infrastructure.
Yarra Council has partnered with All Electric Homes to pilot a free program to provide expert, independent advice to help 12 eligible Yarra apartment buildings electrify – to see what’s possible, what should come first and to provide the guidance on how your Owners Corporation can move forward with confidence.
Selected buildings can receive $1500 toward a building assessment and feasibility report that outlines what is required to switch to clean, electric appliances - such as solar panels, batteries, hot water heat pumps, EV chargers, induction cooktops, and more. This report will provide practical, whole-of-building plans for electrification of shared services, common area loads and private apartment loads, including roof space analysis, metering and switchboard capacity and indicative costings.
The program will also provide expert guidance through free virtual consultations to help answer your questions, understand options and help navigate the Owners Corporation approval pathway and funding options.
