Free classical music for kids at Abbotsford Convent this October with MSO
Pack a picnic, bring the kids and enjoy an afternoon of live music on the lawns of Abbotsford Convent – with free entry for under 18s!
On Sunday 25 October, Abbotsford Convent will come alive with the sounds of an 11-piece brass ensemble, featuring talented musicians from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) and the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM).
Taking place in the Convent's beautiful heritage gardens, Convent Sounds is a relaxed outdoor concert where families can spread out a picnic rug, soak up the spring sunshine and experience the thrill of live orchestral music, without the formality of a concert hall.
The 60-minute afternoon's musical program takes audiences on a journey from Baroque masterpieces to the epic movie music of John Williams, with plenty of soaring melodies and dramatic musical moments for young listeners to discover.
Whether your kids are budding musicians or have never heard a brass ensemble perform, it's a wonderful opportunity to introduce them to live classical music in a fun, welcoming setting.
Bring your own picnic or treat the family to food, drinks and picnic packages available to purchase on the day. And with tickets free for everyone under 18 and just $20 for adults, it's an affordable afternoon out for the whole family.
Presented by MSO+ and Abbotsford Convent, with support from the Robert Salzer Foundation.
