About the market
Every Saturday, Richmond's Gleadell Street is transformed into a bustling fresh food market, overflowing with seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh bread, herbs, flowers and other gourmet delights.
The Gleadell Street Market is environmentally friendly so remember to bring your reusable shopping bag to carry your purchases. Stallholders are allowed to use biodegradable bags only and must not have them on display.
The market is owned and operated by Yarra City Council.
We hold a stallholders’ working group quarterly and all stallholders are invited.
The market operates 7am to 1pm every Saturday, except Easter Saturday and Anzac Day (if they fall on a Saturday).

Gleadell Street (off Bridge Road) is 15 minutes east of the CBD. Catch Tram 48 (North Balwyn – Victoria Harbour, via Collins Street) or 75 (Vermont South – City, via Flinders Street) and disembark at Stop 19 – Richmond Town Hall.
How do I set up a stall?
If you are interested in a stall at the Gleadell Street Saturday market you need to read the Gleadell Street Market Policy and the Gleadell Street Market Procedure and Protocols Manual.
Stallholders tend to stay for many years, and there are no casual stalls, so the turnover is very low.
Given the high demand for stalls, we are currently not accepting new applications to join the waiting list.
How do I apply for a free community stall?
We provide a free market stall between 7am to 1pm each Saturday when the market is operating.
The stall is available for local Yarra community groups, school groups and not-for-profit organisations to assist their fundraising and promotional activities.
You can book the free community stall up to 3 times per year.
To apply you need to download, complete and submit a temporary public space application form

How do I apply for a marquee?
We have a marquee and folding table available for local Yarra community groups, school groups and not-for-profit organisations.
If you wish to book the marquee and/or table when using our community stall please tell one of our officers when making your application. If you do not make a specific request for these items prior to the day they may not be available.
You need to make a booking prior to market day.
On market day you need to meet our officer to collect and set-up the prior to the market opening (before 6:45 am). The officer will meet you at the close of market trading to collect these items.
