Report damaged roads or footpaths

How to address issues such as potholes, uneven surfaces, damaged kerbs, and street furniture to keep Yarra's roads safe and functional.

We maintain Yarra's roads, footpaths and laneways so they are safe and functional.

Our work fixes:

  • potholes, cracks and uneven surfaces on roads and footpaths
  • damaged or uneven kerbs and channels
  • damaged street furniture, such as bench seats and traffic barriers.

We also maintain line markings, street signs and poles.

How to report damage or hazards

If you see a damaged or potentially hazardous road, footpath, laneway or sign, please call 9205 5555.

If the information is not urgent, consider submitting a request for an inspection.

Our response

We schedule an inspection after any report of a road or footpath concern. If we find any defects, we will respond in line with our Road Management Plan [ PDF, 1.14 MB] .

Line marking maintenance

Most streets have line marking to help guide traffic and maintain safety.

We usually do line marking works at night when there is less traffic on the roads. This makes it safer for the workers and helps give the lines time to dry.

Line marking can be noisy, but it is quick and essential for most roads.

Line marking after roadworks

If lines have been removed due to roadworks, they will usually be repainted in the month after the works are finished. This slight delay is normal because cold nights and fresh asphalt can impact the quality of the paints.

Report faded or damaged line marking

We do line marking maintenance when old lines are faded, or where our traffic engineers need to address a safety issue.

If the lines on your street are faded, please request maintenance using the link below and we will review our maintenance schedule.

Cleaning and maintenance

We regularly clean and maintain roads, streets, footpaths, laneways, street bins, parks and reserves and other public spaces.

Visit our cleaning and maintenance page for help with street cleaning or maintenance issues.
